Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack, NY will be holding auditions for its upcoming production of Clybourne Park, written by Bruce Norris and directed by Kathleen Mahan. Clybourne Park is sometimes tense and sometimes funny, always timely and engaging.

AUDITIONS: Tuesday August 8th, 2023 at 7:00pm and Wednesday August 9th, 2023 at 7:00pm

CALLBACKS: Thursday August 10th, 2023 at 7:00pm (by invitation only)

PERFORMANCES: Friday November 10th, 2023 thru Saturday December 2nd, 2023 (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with possible Wednesday and Thursdays)

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Set in 1959 and then 2009, Pulitzer Prize winner Clybourne Park exposes race relations and gentrification in the changing face of a Chicago neighborhood.

CAST REQUIREMENTS: (4 Males, 3 Females)

ACT ONE: 1959


Russ Stoller (White, Male, late 40s to early 50s). Married to Bev. A grieving father with an undercurrent of anger.
Bev Stoller (White, Female, late 40s to early 50s). Married to Russ. A grieving but resilient mother. Cheerful in nature but sometimes clueless.
Francine (Black, Female, 30s). A housekeeper. Tries to be non-confrontational.
Jim (White, Male, late 20s-early 30s). A clergyman. Tries to be a peacemaker.
Albert (Black, Male, 30s). Father. Married to Francine. A nice guy, but with an edge.
Karl (White, Male, 30s). Community representative. Doesn’t want things to change.
Betsy (White, Female, late 20s). Married to Karl. She is deaf, pregnant, and friendly.

ACT TWO: 2009


Tom (played by the actor who plays Jim). Lawyer, neighbor.
Lindsey (played by the actor who plays Betsy). Pregnant. Outspoken, sociable, strong-minded.
Kathy (played by the actor who plays Bev). Lawyer, well intentioned, talkative.
Steve (played by the actor who plays Karl). Married to Lindsey. Supportive husband, blunt.
Lena (played by the actor who plays Francine). Determined, opinionated, charismatic.
Kevin (played by the actor who plays Albert). Married to Lena. Banker. Well educated, affable.
Dan (played by actor who plays Russ). Construction worker, friendly, talkative.
Kenneth (played by actor who plays Jim and Tom). Son of Russ and Bev. Korean War veteran, troubled.


Sides from the script will be made available at the audition. All roles available. Casting is open to all ethnicities and races. Newcomers are especially welcomed.
