Upcoming Outing: Bear Mountain State Park

Date: Sunday May 5th | Meet at 10:00am

Location: 55 Hessian Drive, Tomkins Cove, NY, 10986

Join OUTWalking for a hike up Bear Mountain that will feature incredible views of the Hudson Valley!  We will meet in front of the Bear Mountain carousel, right next to the Hessian Lake parking lot.  From there we will proceed to Hessian Lake where we will start our assent up the mountain via the Major Welch Trail.  We will climb up terrain that will be steep and uneven at times until we reach the summit which features the Perkins Memorial Observation Tower, offering sweeping views of the surrounding valleys.  We will the descent the mountain via a section of the Appalachian Trail and will make our way back to the parking lot.  It is estimated that the 4 mile loop will take approximately 3 hours.

LOFT Social Groups are open groups which welcome everyone ages 18 and over. Groups are led by members of the LGBT and allied communities. There is no need to preregister and no fee to attend.

Donations are welcome. Suggested donation is $5; more if you can, less if you can't. Fees related to activities are the responsibility of participants.
