Assistant Coordinator of Kids In Crisis Lighthouse   

Lighthouse, a program of Kids In Crisis since 2019, provides advocacy, education, presentations/panel discussions, and outreach, for families and allies regarding the LGBTQ+ community.  KIC Lighthouse provides peer to peer support for LGBTQ+ youth (ages 11-19), in local communities. We pride ourselves in being an enlightened asset to the community promoting healthy productive conversations in a safe space. We acknowledge the power of coming together so that youth in our community do not feel isolated and alone as they discover their emerging identities. 

The Assistant Coordinator is a Part Time position not to exceed 15 hours per week and  reports to the Lighthouse Coordinator. 

Responsibilities:     

  • Running  weekly Lighthouse support group meetings  
  • Expanding KIC’s reach by creating marketing materials in conjunction with the KIC Marketing Manager 
  • Working with the Development Team in engaging both private and corporate donors  
  • Engaging teens and their parents in meaningful ways to encourage Lighthouse participation  
  • Speaking about the Lighthouse mission to area schools, corporations, organizations and religious institutions  
  • Setting up for Lighthouse meetings including coordination of food, room set up and breakdown, and ensuring a safe space for all participants 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • BA degree in Human Services or degree in progress   
  • Minimum 2 years working with youth 
  • Lived experience in the LGBTQ+ Community   
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • A team player who is comfortable around tweens and adolescents 
  • Bi-lingual English > Spanish preferred
